If you’re looking to build your hijab wardrobe but don’t know which colors will look best on you, here’s what you need to know about the impact of hijab colors going best with your skin.
How would you determine your skin tone?
There are many ways out there but the best one that always works out is determining your skin’s undertone. An undertone is the complexion of your skin, and most people fall between one of three categories: Cool, Warm and Neutral. Understanding what your undertone is, can help you discover the best shades of color to wear.
Color Check: Look for specific colors that stand out in your skin. Warm-toned skin has yellow, peach and gold tint, while cool-toned skin has more pink, red or blue.
Wrist check: Look at your veins. If you see blue or purple veins, you’re most likely cool-toned, and if you see green, you’re warm.
Jewelry check: Warm undertones look better in gold jewelry, whereas, cool undertones look great in silver. It can also be determined when either of these lifts up your complexion once you wear them.
Now, what if you’re confused in identifying any of those or feel in the middle and if silver and golden both jewels look great paired with your complexion? You’re probably a neutral skin tone. Consider yourself to be lucky enough to flaunt each and every color! You Go Girl!
Choosing the right Hijab Color:
Generally, warmer skin tones look flattering in warmer colors (like red, orange and yellow) and cool skin tones look flattering in cooler colors (like blue, green, and purple).
Colors for cool skin tones:
Cool skin tones are also known to have fair, very fair and light-medium complexion. Colors that look best with cool skin tones are pastel hues and softer tones. Such as lilac, baby blue, baby pink, shades of peach and lighter shades of yellows can be flaunted naturally while you wear hijab. You can feel free to experiment with light colors in your outfits with hijabs paired in soft contrast hues.
Colors for warm skin tones:
Think of tropical colors such as teal, saffron and dusty rose. Earthy tones like peach, coral and jewel tones of blue, olive and purple work best. Reds, mustards and blues can be your best colors for the hijabs to complement your skin tone. Feel free to always pair your outfits with contrasting colors of hijabs that’ll surely add dimension in your overall dress-up!
Colors for neutral skin tones:
As a neutral, you can wear anything on the color wheel. It’s typically best to go for softened or muted versions of colors such as dusty pink, jade green, off-whites, coffee, mid-range greys and black. You will look amazing in any color you wear because you’re a neutral skin tone beautiful!
Colors for everyone:
There’s a handful of colors that look great on any skin tone because they provide a perfect balance of warm and cool skin tone that won’t clash with your complexion. Stick to basics like reds, blues, purples and pinks and no matter what, they look great on anyone!
Most of all, we would love to put it to an end by reminding our #HijabFam that
Comfort is the key: No matter what color and skin tone guides define, the ultimate confidence comes from feeling comfortable in your own skin. If you hate bright colors or any light shades, no amount of overstating will make you feel beautiful in them. So, always pay regard to your personal preferences as well.
